208 - Leather District Lofts - Boston, Massachusetts
Bostons Leather District was once
the home of abandoned tanneries just waiting
for demolition. Today it has become one
of the trendiest loft neighbourhoods in
Boston. Our first loft is a tribute to a
bachelors lifestyle. This large space
incorporates old tanning machinery in the
bedroom and office. It also includes a raised
platform for the black felt pool table and
a bar in the center of the space for parties.
Our second loft is a smaller space full
of do-it-yourself projects and fascinating
antiques that all come with a story. Then
we head across the street to the fifth floor
loft of two young artists who have left
no corner untouched by their creations and
collectibles.

210 - Clocktower/Oriental Warehouse Lofts
- San Francisco, California
The Clocktower lofts were once home to
the Lithographic Company that printed the
classic California fruit box labels. In
the early nineties the building was transformed
into the largest live/work loft project
in San Francisco. In our first feature we
see how a couple have transformed the landmark
Clocktower of this historic building into
a multi-level loft. Our second feature is
located in the Oriental Warehouse. The core
of the original building was destroyed by
fire but developers managed to salvage the
exterior walls and build a new structure
within. The loft is a split level space
with stained concrete walls, a picturesque
courtyard and a library with a view. Then
we return to the Clocktower and meet an
interior designer who has created a live/work
loft with a floating living room, a hideaway
desk and a murphy bed that transforms into
a dining table.
